Tuesday Night, 8:00 PM
[ Dhaos would be lying to himself if he said he didn't expect something to occur all week. So naturally, he... found out soon enough that two people "mysteriously" died. It was less a mystery now and he figures some might be wondering 'how' this is happening--but he doubts no one is wondering 'why'.
That said, he's made a decision to visit Faize for his own reasons and so it comes to no surprise to himself he's knocking upon the other's door lightly. ]
Good evening. Are you available, Faize?

[The 'how' hardly matters at all, as far as he's concerned.]
[He's a little surprised to see Dhaos at his door, however. Though hardly displeased, since he can't say he minds the demon king's company. He inclines his head slightly.]
I am not preoccupied with something so important that it cannot wait for another time. What is it that you need of me?
no subject
Not much. I had actually thought to make a brief visit, due to all that's occurred recently. It has been a different experience, as we all know.
[ He makes it sound casual and logical, but suffice to say, he was a little concerned about Faize. So he's checking up on him. Not that he's saying so in so many words. ]
That and I wished to also discuss with you a few details about the town, if you do not mind.
no subject
Oh? I certainly do not mind. The more information we have, the better off we will be, after all. I have been trying to figure out what I can on my own, but I'm afraid it has not been much. Would you like to come in? Or shall I accompany you elsewhere?

[ Dhaos... seems to consider the latter for a second. They're on the same floor, thank goodness for that, so for him the decision for them having their talk is his own room or Faize's. Because as far as Dhaos is concerned, however, leaving the hotel, with Faize in his current state... well he is unsure what could happen. ]
If anything, I do not have a preference, as we are on the same floor. Since I am already here, however, I suppose your room will do.
[ He will just wait patiently and politely until Faize moves so he can walk in. ]

[He backs out of the way and opens the door fully to let Dhaos in, closing the door once they're both inside. Judging by all the paper cranes and sheets of unfolded construction paper on the bed nearest the door, it's probably not hard for him to guess what Faize was working on before he came over. Gotta help Hinata with Urashima's last wish, after all.]
Make yourself comfortable.

[ Dhaos is actually a huge worry-wart. He tries not to make it too obvious though. From what he could tell, Faize was at least faring better physically.
The blond's eyes easily take notice of the paper cranes and the other construction paper. He cannot decide whether to smile or not, so he settles for an inbetween, before he moves to sit himself down upon one of the beds. ]
I am not sure where to start, because there are a few things. But I suppose, I shall begin with perhaps with a question... are you aware that this town was once involved in a conflict of some kind?
[ Just in case of the event if Faize does have knowledge of it, he does not have to repeat himself, etc. ]
no subject
I surmised as much, though I was never able to get confirmation.
[Their hostesses always get so fucking cagey whenever someone tries to ask.]
no subject
That and the fact on that one week far back, there was an "air raid siren" that went off which meant a warning of an "attack from above". Which I suppose are common during wartime, which answers what type of conflict this town was embroiled in.
[ What... is technology? He just doesn't know sometimes. He had to ask someone about that (which got answered), and ugh he is tired of hostesses being cagey.
Naturally, taking this into his own hands is the answer!! ]
One additional quality to note about her -- and I hear this is common with the rest -- is that she didn't seem to think anyone who has arrived here is a foreigner. This is despite the fact that some of us do adorn clothing much different from theirs.
[ It could have to do with the automatic 'all-language translator' thing going on, but still, something about their appearances should have tipped her off, he thinks. ]
no subject
Actually...I am not certain how noteworthy that quality is. None of you dress so drastically different from the variety of styles present here that it could not be easily explained away by the locals. But, moreover: though I never met Edita, when I spoke with Miata's younger sister, Marta, she did refer to me as a foreigner. She then proceeded to ask me about my ears and hair color. [Lord the fast talking he had to do to get out of that one...] I feel as though any of us who noticeably differ in physical appearance from a standard Earthling would have been met with similar reactions, had any other than myself had the chance to meet one of these local ghosts.
[So...the monsters, the cat boys, Youko...probably Rhys too...]

Either way, he considers what Faize said. He is a little too used to going somewhere and still being looked at strangely. Thanks for nothing, humans from Aselia. ]
That must be it, then. Well, hopefully it wasn't too difficult to elucidate on your end when she inquired.
[ Children are naturally curious, after all. ]
That said... continuing on about this conflict, there is a tiny island called Lorelea that apparently was causing some type of trouble with other nations out West. Undoubtedly war came of it and I believe that is how this town became unceremoniously dragged into it.
[ Actually... these events reminded him of what happened back at his homeworld. ]
no subject
It was...an interesting conversation, to say the least...
[He didn't want to tell her he was an alien so he kind of had to fudge the truth a bit. And explain genetics. To a ten year old. FUN. TIMES.]
I see... So, in all likelihood, the majority of this town's populace was wiped out as war casualties. That would certainly explain, not only the siren, but what Miata said to Katerina before Satori's execution. Regarding Marta's death, I mean.
no subject
Indeed. I suppose at this point we would also need to figure when or how the few remaining of this town decided to enter into a contract-- or rather a deal with the demons here. Although, I do figure it was out of pure desperation as a primary motivation, considering how the situation must have been.
[ There are still so many questions... what fun. ]
no subject
[...]
I wonder... Those bodies we reassembled the week of Easter...Katerina said that they died because they did "a very bad thing", correct? At the time, I thought perhaps they were partially responsible for whatever tragedy befell this town. But with what we know now...I wonder if perhaps they were among the survivors, along with Katerina and Miata. And that their transgression was something which went against Katerina's plan or perhaps even the contract itself.
no subject
[ His eyes flicker to the side, briefly, and then back. ]
I believe dissent amongst their numbers was not an option the few remaining could take. Yet, it was not just the action of those people likely rebelling that angered her, but... perhaps how successful they came close to disrupting the terms of that contract.
[ He runs a hand through his hair, after a bit of pause. ]
... Unfortunately, what I said was just pure speculation. But I do know violation of a contract with demons carries severe consequences. Therefor, I would not be surprised if what you or I said rings true in some manner.
no subject
[He picks up one of the cranes and turns it over idly in his hands, clearly mulling things over. You can all but see the gears turning inside his head as he tries to piece things together. Then, something seems to click and he looks up suddenly, vaguely distressed.]
I did not offend you with my comments on contracts, did I? [Demon king...belatedly it hits him that maybe saying something like "beings such as these sins" might have been a little offensive.] It was not my intent to imply anything negative about such bonds or about the beings with which they are formed.
no subject
[ At that questioning, Dhaos starts a bit, not expecting Faize to say such a thing, but he relaxes a bit more now... because he had been tense. Then again, it was not as if anyone could blame him for it, considering. ]
No, it is alright. After all, these beings are different from the demons I am used to dealing with, so I believe in this case there is a distinction, if only in the "type" of demons they are.
Although... I do wish it were that I had not needed to even make a contract with those demons I do know in the first place. And, well, I suppose this week has been quite much to say the least, and I am simply a bit concerned as one can be expected to be.
[ If anything, he may be a bit appreciate the other asked such a thing, although for an additional reason he is hesitant to speak of. ]
no subject
I am relieved. The last thing I want to do is cause offense by speaking too lightly of things I have only the vaguest of understanding of.
[At least the whole Bill fiasco hasn't completely ruined Faize on demons forever. There are good demons out there too! Like Dhaos!!! He sighs, looking slightly worried.]
I am concerned about what the rest of this week will bring as well. It is already off to a rather troubling start, and I very much doubt that the trend will shift for the better as the days wear on. [He shakes his head.] Though I do hope it provides us with more answers, if nothing else.
no subject
Faize... forgive me for slightly derailing this, but I am not a demon. I am the antithesis of what a demon would be [ A certain kind of spirit people would normally consider a demon's mortal enemy, in fact. ], but I was forced into working with demons, and making a deal with them to become their Demon King.
This is another reason you did not offend me with your words. All in all, you have been understanding, and that should be commended considering everything.
[ It is terribly hard for him to trust people, but he's trying. He knows without them trusting each other and working together, their enemy will tear them apart. And Dhaos is sick of it--enough innocent people have died. ]
And now, back to the subject, I doubt we will have anything much good awaiting for us at the end of this week either. But...I do hope us working together can eventually turn it around. It is tiring being unable to truly do much.
In addition, the one who informed me about the conflict with Loreleans is a ghost, by the name of Captain Salvatore Brigante, who once owned a ship that resided in the harbor in this town. The ship was called the Amarissa and was large as well as orange--a ship for passengers.
The tiny island called Lorelea is located in the Baltic Sea, and Lithuania once said she was very familiar with that area. She also told me Lettland was like an alternate version of her own land.

[Not wanting to derail further, he says nothing to that point, but he does nod his head in a way that makes it clear that he understands.]
I have suspected for a while that we are on one of many alternate universe iterations of Earth, but I suppose that confirms it. Lithuania and Poland would perhaps know the best of us, after all. Though I'm not certain what good that knowledge does us, admittedly...
Truthfully, I feel as though cooperation is the only way that we will be able to make the best of this situation. My hope is that everyone else will see that, before it's too late...
[There are admittedly a few people left standing that he's kind of concerned about. Buddy. Rhys. Yoite. Astrid, sort of. After a conversation tomorrow in the clinic, Break will also be put on that list because apparently he thinks some people here deserved to die. God, why did all the pure team players have to die??]
no subject
I am not sure, either. For what it is worth, it may have to do with why the town's appearance is apparently 'distorted' and surrounded by the void. Although, that is a reach, I suppose.
That said, I have never been to the planet 'Earth' until now, so I wouldn't have known until either of them confirmed the 'alternate universe' attribute.
[ If anything he doesn't find it too odd this was a thing, though.
For the other matter though...he was a bit concerned about it as well. ]
If everyone else does not, then we are...well. Not in a good position.
[ ... ]
Perhaps at some point, if we make it through this week...we should organize a meeting of some sort. Then, share what we have figured out and plan how to go from there, or try to.
no subject
I agree. If everyone pools their knowledge together, it will be much easier to plan how to proceed. We will simply have to see what the end result of this week is.
[LET HIM DIE.]
